9 Steps to Make Reading a Daily Habit

Reading is one of the beautiful hobbies that many people all over the world share;  Books have an exceptional ability to evoke emotions, stimulate imagination, ignite inspiration, convey news, inculcate wisdom, deepen morals, diversify experiences, spark creativity, and document history.

Numerous studies have indicated that reading books makes a person dozens of times smarter.  Because it helps him to see different patterns easily, solve problems intelligently and competently, and nurture critical and analytical thinking.

And making reading a daily habit for you - even for a few and very limited pages - is the only way to get these benefits and more. Below I will suggest 9 simple steps for you to build the habit of reading and develop your skill;  To do it daily automatically:

How do you make reading a daily habit for you or those around you?

1. Borrow a book from the library

In the world in which we live, technology has overwhelmed everything, to the point that all our lives are linked to technology, and this has prevented many from visiting the library;  The majority were content with reading through tablets.

However, having a return date for the book will make you read it faster;  Reading on the tablet is not subject to a delivery date. Take advantage of this feature and price a book every week and challenge yourself to complete it , and subscribe to the electronic services provided by the library;  To set yourself up for it.

2. Read whenever and wherever you can

Do not specify a place and time for reading, make it spontaneous, fill it with free time at home, enjoy time in front of the sea and in the park while the children are having fun, and make yourself comfortable in public transportation, and in waiting in clinics and queues.

This is very entertaining - from experience - as it is useful and helps you to build a very good habit, next to the daily habit of reading, and the presence of audiobooks will cover a problem for some, such as listening while driving or standing, resort to it and do not wait for a solution;  Because you may have to wait a long time !

Do not specify a place and time for reading, make it automatic, fill it in the free time at home, and let it be your comfort in public transportation, waiting times, and relaxation

3. Cut back on other entertainment

You will discover that reading is one of the great pleasures that people miss out on. Leave watching TV or video games for reading for a week or two, and discover the difference in your relationship with people, your confidence, and your ability to express yourself.

If you are serious, you can always replace media with reading, and believe me, you will be satisfied with it, and even enjoy what you used to consider boring if you compare it to the audio, visual, and colored media.

4. Take time out every day to read

I return to the seriousness again, if you are serious, you will intend and use your control your will power, and immediately start reading.

We all suffer from overcrowding in the details of life, our daily family and work duties, and others, but whoever wants will do so, and whoever is sluggish will procrastinate, and the craving for something will give him time despite his preoccupations.

Choose a suitable, quiet time when you are relaxed, such as the morning before work, after exercise, before bed... or read at any time, but the selection makes reading more valuable, special, and respectful to you.

And don't take too long;  In order not to get bored, start with ten minutes daily, extend it to a quarter of an hour, then a third, then a half... I promise that you will find yourself later dedicating hours to reading without complaint !

5. Create a favorite reading list

Select a group of books to read in a specific time range - a year, for example - and challenge yourself to complete it and get the task done!

Include titles you like, and as you read on, you'll find yourself making next year's list automatically.

Do not increase the number of books, start with a limited number and you can increase it after years, for example.

6. Create your own reading history

Draw a table, and write down all the books you've read, the start and end dates of completion, and it's okay to assign stars or grades to them (modern sites on the Internet help you make your reading list).

Review your lists after a few months, you'll feel great satisfaction, and the motivation for more.

7. Read to your children

In addition to being an excellent educational way to get close to the child and spend time with him, reading to your son for 20 minutes a day - for example - will turn reading into a routine and a good habit for both of you.

Invest your child's knowledge and stimulate his thinking, imagination, and creativity by reading - especially before bed - and create a new and special habit for yourself, and don't argue that you are not a father. Read to one of the youngsters in the family: your brother, your niece, your cousin... etc.

8. Decide when you should leave the book

To the same degree that the activity of reading should be useful, it should also be interesting. Therefore, whenever you pick up a book to read, trust that you are attracted to it and eager to continue and turn the pages, or else leave it completely;  Do not allow yourself to get bored and abandon this beautiful habit.

The main goal is for reading to be a fun and relaxing activity, and not just an unfamiliar act, so we want it exciting and engaging;  To continue and last and settle in the subconscious!

9. Let your meeting with the book be moments of enjoyment

Which activities do you feel most comfortable and enjoyable?  Swimming, sports, sitting on the beach, watching the passersby from the window, sipping your drink on the balcony, or sitting with a partner or companion you like.

Whatever activity you enjoy, combine it with reading;  So that reading becomes an act of enjoyment and builds with it memories and moments that motivate you towards it and bring you back to it whenever you are about to go away.

Furnish a comfortable environment for reading, along with your favorite drink and favorite pastries;  This motivates you to read daily without fail!

Reading will open a horizon that has no ceiling, take you to distinct worlds and great comfort, and combine benefit and well-being for you.

You can relax, sleep and accomplish... Reading is a treasure, otherwise, Allah(SWT) wouldn't have said in the first verse revealed to our Prophet Mohammad(PBUH): {Read in the name of your Lord who created} [Al-Alaq: 1].
